Have or Want to Prevent Termites?
Termites are very prevalent throughout the desert areas, with the most common termite being the Heterotermes aureus, or the desert subterranean termite.Unfortunately, this termite is the most destructive Arizona termite. Severe structural damage to the home can be avoided by prompt remedial control. This species creates colonies numbering up to 300,000 termites in the soil. These termites are so common that every home in desert areas are required to get a termite “pretreatment” to the soil prior to pouring the concrete foundation. This pretreatment protects the home from the desert subterranean termite. Generally, these pretreatments come with a 3-year warranty. Over time, this barrier breaks down leaving a home defenseless against termites. The time it takes for this barrier to break down and lose its effectiveness is impacted by a number of factors including: the presence of conducive conditions (water leaks, faucet drips, wood to earth contact, poor home building etc.), the type of product used for the pretreatment, the quality of the pretreatment, the type of soil the home was built on (farm land, virgin desert, grove), and simply the passage of time.
Desert subterranean termite colonies feature “mud tubes” that allow the termites to access cellulose (i.e. wood). These mud tubes can at times be seen along the concrete foundation stem wall. They often have the width of a straw and are light brown in color. Termites can access the home through these mud tubes behind walls through cracks in the foundation allowing them to forage undetected for years.
Effective termite control is available for desert subterranean termites, even in places where they cannot be seen.
The most effective preventative and corrective treatment approach for the desert subterranean termite is to treat the soil around the home. Since the desert subterranean termite is so common throughout the area, periodically reestablishing this barrier is recommended to protect your home if you have a termite infestation or if you want to proactively prevent an infestation. These treatments are effective and pet, family and environment friendly. Equipment is used to create a shallow trench around the home. A “non-repellant” product is then placed into the trench at the correct depth into the soil using a rodding tool. Tacit Services uses the most effective “non-repellant” product. We use products that doesn’t alert the termite that it is walking through the product, so the termites unknowingly transfer the product back to the rest of the termites, which eliminates the colony. After the treatment the soil is then placed back into the shallow trench and the protective barrier will remain effective for up to several years depending on the scope of the treatment.
The Steps Tacit Services Takes to Protect Your Home against TermitesWe inspect your home. A licensed Tacit Services termite inspector will perform a thorough inspection at your home. This inspection will determine the treatment options that are available. The inspector will begin by asking you a few questions (aware of any termite activity at your home or neighbors’ homes, if you have seen activity, where is the termite activity etc.) to make sure they are familiar with your situation and any specific requests that you have. The scope of the treatment and the investment is determined by the size of the infestation, the size of the area that needs to be treated, the types of landscaping and hardscape around a home and other factors. Once the inspection is completed, the Tacit Services inspector will provide you with a detailed sketch that specifically outlines the treatment, the product that will be used and the investment. The inspector will also let you know of any conducive conditions that need to be addressed prior to the treatment.
We treat your home. On the day of treatment, an Arizona licensed Tacit Services termite technician will come within the specified treatment arrival time. The technician will have a copy of the detailed sketch provided to you by the inspector that outlines the treatment. They will let you know that they have arrived and answer any questions that you may have prior to beginning the treatment. Tacit Services is known for the quality of its service technicians. Great care will be taken to make sure that your treatment area is left clean and orderly. You can also have confidence that the treatment will be performed in-line with Tacit Services best practices and Tacit Services commitment to doing excellent work and standing behind its work.
We guarantee protection. After the termite control treatment is complete, you will be protected under Tacit Services treatment protection guarantee. This means that if at any time during the protection period you have a reoccurrence of termite activity, we will return immediately to treat your home—at no additional charge. The length of the protection period is determined by the scope of treatment that is performed.
